All concert plans for 2021 cancelled by 4th wave

Last weekend was an incredible shock for our choir! For weeks the singers of the Stuttgarter Oratorienchor had been preparing in intensive, harmonious rehearsals for the first concert in these Covid times. The preparations were in full swing. Both musically and organizationally, it could not have gone better: Performing the concert according to the so-called “2G rule” (means fully vaccinated or recovered) seemed to be a sure thing, after all, we and all other contributors were fully vaccinated! Music to commemorate the dead

The works selected for the Stuttgarter Oratorienchor concerts follow two traditions. They are in harmony with the church year, which is especially true for the Passion and Christmas concerts. At the same time, it is natural to present unabridged original compositions of oratorio literature. Our first live concert, however, is a special exception after a break of almost two years. On the one hand, it takes place in November, in which the commemoration of the dead has its special place in the overarching seasonal aspect. We are rehearsing “properly” again!

At the time of the choir rehearsal with Anton Friedrich Thibaut (article picture), corona was just a Latin word. For more than a year now, this word is usually no longer simply translated as “crown”, but many other terms come to mind… The Corona Ordinance of the State of Baden-Württemberg has allowed choirs and orchestras to resume their musical work in presence for a few months now.
