About us

The Stuttgarter Oratorienchor (Stuttgart Oratorio Choir) was founded on 24th February 1847 as “Society of Classical Church Music”. It was the first choir in Württemberg to consider it its task to perform classical choral works and make them known to a wider audience.

Today the musical repertoire ranges from early baroque music to contemporary, moderate compositions. These include the important works of sacred music accompanied by orchestra or organ, such as oratorio, passion, mass, requiem, Stabat Mater, Te Deum, etc. But our repertoire also includes secular choral symphonic literature. Well-known and unknown works have been and are always on the program, including premieres and first performances in Stuttgart, even with participating composers.

So everyone, whether as a listener or contributor, will find something for his or her musical preference.
