Impressive Christmas Concert
Before information follows very briefly on rehearsals, let us look back a little on our first Christmas concert after 2019 (!), which was virtually sold out on the 3rd Sunday of Advent 2022 in the Leonhardskirche. The most apt way to describe it is this: Uplifting, moving, simply extraordinary! For the Stuttgart Oratorio Choir it was a small Christmas present, especially in times of uncertain audience expectations and the high level of sickness in the choir. With only 39 singers, the choir surprised with an unbelievable splendour of sound and joy of singing.
It can be said without exaggeration: Here, with Homilius` “Christmas Oratorio” (“The Shepherds’ Joy at the Birth of Jesus”), an unknown masterpiece was snatched from oblivion and it would be desirable to encounter this pre-classical work again in other Christmas concerts of the future.
The final chorus “Tollite hostias” of his “Oratorio de Noel”, called “Choer” by Saint-Saens, was sung once more as an encore together with the audience after cheering applause. The wonderful acoustics of the Leonhardskirche contributed to this unforgettable, inspiring and very Christmassy concert experience.
We would like to thank our audience for their visit and now go full steam ahead with the preparation of the Passion Concert. There would be much more to tell about our Christmas concert 2022, but as they say? After the concert is before the concert!
Now it’s back to rehearsal on Fridays!
- All choir members, our previous and new guests are asked to bring Dvorak’s “Stabat Mater”. Those who do not yet have sheet music of this work can purchase it before the rehearsal or borrow it for the time being.
- For the first rehearsal, we will see you on 13 January 2023 from 18:45 in the auditorium of the Königin Olga Stifts. See you soon!
