At the time of the choir rehearsal with Anton Friedrich Thibaut (article picture), corona was just a Latin word. For more than a year now, this word is usually no longer simply translated as “crown”, but many other terms come to mind… The Corona Ordinance of the State of Baden-Württemberg has allowed choirs and orchestras to resume their musical work in presence for a few months now. Impatiently we are now looking forward to the new concert season and announce:
The first rehearsal after the summer break will take place on Friday, 10.09.2021 from 19:00. For the time being, we will rehearse for the last time in the large community hall of the Church of the Redeemer.
We will stick to the 3-G rule and our hygiene concept – just like before the summer holidays.
New rehearsal venue from 17.09.2021
As of this Friday, the pandemic-related homelessness is finally over! In future we will be able to rehearse in the auditorium of the Königin-Olga-Stift. The size of this room makes it possible to keep enough distance from each other and not have to sing with the windows open all the time, even in winter.
New singers
As always after the summer break, we cordially invite people who are interested in sacred vocal music to take part in our rehearsals. At the moment we are somewhat understaffed in the tenor section and are looking for “new blood”, especially in this voice range. Please use our contact form to get in touch.
New perspectives after a long musical abstinence
Stuttgart’s town twinning with Brno has now existed for over 30 years. We wanted to return the visit of the Czechs, who were with us in 2019, already last year. However, the extreme spread of the coronavirus not only prevented this… We have a lot of plans for the rest of 2021:
1. Concert tour to Brno: 29.10. to 02.11.2021
The preparations for this have been made and we very much hope not to have to cancel again. Together with the Philharmonic Choir Beseda brněnská we will perform in the St. Peter and Paul Cathedral. The Brno audience can look forward to the identical programme that we will perform in Stuttgart a week later.
2. Autumn concert: Sun. 07.11.2021 at 7 pm in St. Matthew’s Church
- Brahms Requiem: first, second and seventh movements
- Mozart Requiem in the Levin version
3. Advent Concert: Sun. 12.12.2021 at 7 pm in the Gaisburg Church
- G. A. Homilius: The shepherds’ joy at the birth of Jesus
- C. Saint-Saëns: Oratorio de Noël
